We are planning a visit to the Plate Tone Printshop! Please join us for a tour of this fine art printmaking studio! Special thanks to the printshop for having us!!! Stay tuned to next week's newsletter for directions, etc.

Plate Tone Printshop is a fine art Printmaking studio on Charlotte Pike. Plate Tone offers various ways for you to take advantage of their great facilities, including membership with 24 hour studio access, workshops and tutoring, and a new "By The Block" access to non-members!

Platetone Printshop, founded in 2004, is a community printmaking studio that
offers membership to fine art printmakers. Members of the shop create work
including but not limited to etching, collagraph, solarplate, monoprint,
polyester plate lithography, relief processes and marbling. The Printshop
uses exclusively non-toxic and low toxic printmaking materials. Members have
access to the group's facilities, which includes two etching presses, large
inking tables, a low toxic etching bath and more. The shop provides the
opportunity for artists to have access to this specialized equipment, as
well as to a network of other working artists. Platetone Printshop is
located at 5124 Charlotte Pike, Nashville.

PERFORMER FOR "The Island of Misfit Art"!!!

We are excited to announce "The Island of Misfit Art" Performer:
Leela Sophina "Queen of the Air"

Leela Sophina is an aerial dance trapeze and sling artist who ran away with the circus years ago. She continues to find herself running away and swept up in a whirlwind of lovely talented people who influence her daily. She's been known to collect feathers, fake mustaches, talents, and travel the country in numerous adventurous ways. She is commonly seen dressing up, playing in peoples yards, woods, cooking with people, and enjoying meals after swaying in the breeze whether it be on a mountain, in a holler, in a tree, or in your town. She gets up when the sun rises, and curls up for a nights worth of dreams after it sets and after she read by candle light. Leela is a member of Music City Burlesque and has performed in shows with Cirque Bezerk, Gooferman, Mutaytor, The Goat Family Circus, and random carnivale freak-shows.

WINTER SHOW VENUE FOR "The Island of Misfit Art"
We have confirmed the DUE WEST PROFESSIONAL BUILDING as our venue for the Winter show! Did you know that they have studio, exhibition and performance space? Well, it's pretty awesome and we are happy to help spread the word about this space.

One super cool thing about this venue is that we will not be bringing the Untitled panels for installation, which those of you who have experienced carrying 8 foot panels up stairs will appreciate. The venue has a hanging system in place, which will definitely require all hanging pieces to have wire attached.

Thanks to the fine folks at the venue for working with us!

FEATURED LINK(s)

Did you know that the PBS series ART:21 is viewable in full episodes online?

"Art:21-Art in the Twenty-First Century" is the only series on television to focus exclusively on contemporary visual art and artists in the United States, and it uses the medium of television to provide an experience of the visual arts that goes far beyond a gallery visit. Fascinating and intimate footage allows the viewer to observe the artists at work, watch their process as they transform inspiration into art, and hear their thoughts as they grapple with the physical and visual challenges of achieving their artistic visions.
