You may also sign up to volunteer on the registration survey.

GLOWING ARTISTS:

Get your glowing ideas started with some general guidelines for the GLOW SHOW:

The GLOW Show is an art show featuring luminous and black-lit art; also it is Untitled's annual fundraiser. Same as previous years’ glow shows, we will ask for a $5 donation at the door.

Artists and volunteers get in free.

We hope to have as many artists as possible to enter black-lit or luminous pieces into the show. (Black-lit art is art that will glow when placed under a black light. Luminous art is self-lit--i.e., light boxes, light sculptures or other artwork that have an internal light source.) Please review the information below - then get out and GLOW.

*******************************************

Participation fees:

Luminous artwork - $15

Black-lit artwork - $20

Black-lit artwork (artist provides own black light fluorescent tube to suspend above artwork) -$15

********************************************

General considerations:

-Downy and other liquid fabric softeners will glow under black light.

-Borax will also glow under black light.

-Fluorescent chalk, pencils and clay all glow under black light, but fluorescent spray does not.

-Some phosphorescent objects (like the adhesive stars you can put on your

ceiling) will fade gradually after being out of direct light for a while.

-Wildfire and Rosco are two paint brands with excellent fluorescent colors

- Did you know that tonic water, toothpaste, and vitamin B all glow in black light?

For more on what looks pretty in the dark purple light, visit http://chemistry.about.com/cs/howthingswork/f/blblacklight.htm
